Saskatchewan and Manitoba

Home of the Prairies Saskatchewan and Manitoba is wide open spaces as far as the eye can see. Located in the Midwest of Canada this area is perfect for those who love the great outdoors.

Saskatchewan is endless flields of golden wheat, tall grass and sand dunes. The area is perfect for those wishing to hunt, hike or fish.

Manitoba is home to some amazing wildlife due to its sub arctic location: Polar bears, beluga whales, arctic foxes and the beautiful, sleek harp seal. Lake Winnipeg, Canada’s fifth largest lake offers visitors the opportunity for great swimming, fishing and is home to migrating birds.

The Sights

Fantastic fishing can be found in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Keen anglers will not be disappointed at the abundance of great fishing spots and big fish which can be found.

As the ice begins to form on Hudson Bay in Churchill witness a spectacular sight which lasts only a few weeks.

Polar Bears are one of the most popular animals to see in Churchill. Best months for sightings are October and November where these beautiful creatures can be safely viewed from your Tundra Buggy. The bears move at this time from their summer habitat on the Tundra to the shores of Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to form.

When summer arrives thousands of Beluga Whales arrive into Churchill with some of the best viewing spots at Hudson Bay Coast. Hit the water in a kayak and get up close and personal with these beautiful sea creatures.

Getting There

Flights arrive into this area on a daily basis with several airlines offering services. Via Rail stops at Winnipeg and Saskatoon as part of the Trans Canada rail journey. Or you can arrive by car, campervan or coach.

Things to do

Make sure you jump on board a Tundra vehicle to spot polar bears. They certainly look cute but you don’t want to give these bears a cuddle.

Eskimo Museum: This museum is full of Inuit works of art and tools dating back to 1700bc.  It will take you on a journey through their culture and life.

Stay in Sasaktoon a town full of hidden treasures, a lively downtown area and a beautiful river valley.
